Brandon Heath is out of this world, literally.

Terry Virts, the pilot of the shuttle Endeavor, is a fan of Heath and on his first shuttle mission the astronaut picked Heath’s song “Give Me Your Eyes” to wake up the crew on its second day in space. Here’s the link to the NASA wake-up call. Heath was also at the night launch of the shuttle with the Virts’ family.

I’m still geeking out over this, it’s the coolest thing ever,” Heath said in a statement.

Along with the space tribute, the multiple Dove Award winner and Grammy nominee received an Emmy Award this week for “Give Me Your Eyes,” which was used in Nashville’s Rescue Mission’s Hunger for Hope 2009 PSA campaign.

Congrats, Brandon.
